Dear Plastic began in 2009. Yumi's background is in fine arts and education, Taka's background is in engineering and design. with the growing dialogue around global warming and our ecological foot print(in the early 2000’s), DP started with documenting the daily challenges of going disposable plastic free for a year. This grew into creating objects and artworks, exploring ideas around everyday happiness for the self, community and planet.
Our work has now shifted since we grew into a family of 4.
Taka works on SAKENEt(www.sakenet.com.au) and yumi, with her artwork and research.
Both, still committed to our humanity and our collective happiness. focusing on linguistic and cultural self expression, freedom and responsibility as we live and work as settlers on unceded Lands.
dear plastic is ongoing. A place for future ideas.
